Help to the children from Shakhtar

Following a call and request of the celebrated Croatian national team player Darijo Srna and former Dinamo player Dario Zahora, GNK Dinamo and the Foundation “Nema predaje” joined the campaign to help children from the football academy of the Ukrainian Shakhtar from Donetsk.

The Maksimir Club and our Foundation reacted immediately and joined the transport organization of children from war-torn areas.

TRANSPORTATION OF THE CHILDREN TO ZAGREB

Two buses arrived at the Hungarian-Ukrainian border and then brought the children to Zagreb. A total of 27 girls and boys and four staff members arrived on Monday evening. They are staying at the club hotel “1967” under the south stands of the Maksimir Stadium. The club and the Foundation provided the children with hotel accommodation, food and other necessities.

We would also like to thank the Dynamo’s partner, the company Sport Vision, which helped with the purchase of sportswear for all girls and boys. The children will visit the Zagreb ZOO, and on Wednesday morning they will head towards Kaštela to the Maestral Kaštel Lukšić children´s home, where they will be staying until further notice.

We sympathize with the children and their suffering and this is the least we can do to at least partially help them in this difficult situation. We call once again for peace and we hope that this war situation will end as soon as possible and that the children will happily and quickly return to their homes – said the President of the Board of GNK Dinamo and the Foundation CEO  “Nema predaje”, Ms. Vlatka Peras.

Darijo Srna himself, our legendary national team player, gave an emotional statement:

– We all know the situation of Ukraine and the Ukrainian people and any kind of help, believe me, will mean a lot to them. On behalf of my club, I would like to thank Dinamo who have done a lot for Shakhtar in this difficult situation, a lot for the children from our academy. I would like to thank the President of the Board, Vlatka Peras, and all those who were involved in this humanitarian campaign. Thank you very much and we will never forget this – Srna pointed out.
