Dinamo and the Foundation Nema predaje congratulate all fans, athletes and sports workers with disabilities on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, which is celebrated on December 3rd every year.
On the occasion of today, we bring you the story of a great Dinamo fan, Nenad, who has been working in Dinamo’s fan shop at the stadium for several years. Watch the emotional story of Nenek and who visited him on December 3 in the video.
Nenad has been a Dinamo fan all his life and has been coming to the Blues’ matches for years, and is also a user of the Zagreb Rehabilitation Center. Dinamo and Centar have been cooperating for many years in joint activities through which people with disabilities get involved in football, sports and society. In recent years, many adult fans with intellectual disabilities have come to Dinamo matches at the Maksimir stadium, players have gone to the center’s premises for socializing, workshops and as part of holiday events, while since 2019 we have also had business cooperation.
With the aim of acquiring social skills and inclusion in the community through communication and contact with our fellow citizens, a project of occupational activities for adults with disabilities was launched. Nenad is a 39-year-old passionate fan of the Zagreb Blues, he is a person with Down syndrome, and since 2019 he has been working in Dinamo’s fan shop as an assistant. Once or twice a week during two hours of work for four years, Neno has been helping fan shop employees, talking to customers, preparing souvenirs and through his work raising public awareness of the importance of including people with disabilities in society. Through work activities, adults with intellectual disabilities, including Nenad, gain additional independence and acquire life-important skills.
Dinamo and the No Surrender Foundation have been systematically working on the integration of people with disabilities into football in various ways for a number of years in order to provide them with equal opportunities. Through cooperation with numerous associations, the launch of innovative projects for the first time in Croatia, such as audio description of football matches, training for children with developmental disabilities, promotion of employment of people with disabilities, helping fans with disabilities throughout Croatia and much more.
